About the role

This role provides high quality advice and representation to clients in relation to the legal issues arising from their experience of sexual abuse, including in relation to their redress options.

This role reports directly to the Principal Lawyer and leads a local legal team while working co-operatively with knowmore’s other teams, to ensure clients’ legal and related needs are identified and actioned in an effective and consistent way and all timelines are met.

The Managing Lawyer conducts regular file reviews and monitor and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of service delivery standards, policies and precedents. The role also represent knowmore’s legal practice in internal and external meetings and forums, developing collaborative working relationships with other service providers.

Uniting Communities Law Centre provide expert, independent and confidential support to those in the community who may be considered vulnerable or disadvantaged . We provide general legal advice as well as more-specialised services on a range of matters including (but not limited to) Family Law, Traffic offences, and Neighbourhood Disputes.

 

As part of our new Family Law Pilot Project, we are seeking 2 Family Lawyer’s (1 Full Time, 1 Part Time (0.8)) to join our team. As a Family Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing specialist family law legal advice, representation, advocacy and referral services to clients. You will also be responsible for representing clients in the Federal Circuit and Family Court, as well as to  engage and work with barristers to represent eligible clients.

These positions are contracted until the 30th of June, 2025.

The Family Violence Legal Services Aboriginal Corporation (SA) (FVLSAC) is funded by the National Indigenous Australian Agency to provide legal and support services to victim/survivors of family violence within Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities. The organisation is the only one of its kind in South Australia and is also part of a national network through its involvement with the National Family Violence Preventative Legal Service. 

We work with families and communities providing face to face and/or telephone legal advice to our clients.  We have offices in Port Augusta, Port Lincoln and Ceduna and provide services to these areas and surrounding communities.

The Client Intake/CLASS Officer is responsible for ensuring that the client intake process in undertaken in an efficient and culturally sensitive manner. The Client Intake/CLASS Officer is responsible for data entry and records management processes and administration support.  This position requires high-level communication skills, which are adaptable to the needs of our diverse client base.  It is also a requirement of this role to provide Reception coverage as necessary to ensure staffing during business hours.

It will be essential that you have a strong awareness of the issues affecting FVLSAC's clients, confidentiality, integrity and consultative skills and the capacity to represent the organisation sensitively and effectively.

Imperative to this role will be your style, approach and ability to engage with the community. A professional telephone manner, good computer and organisational skills and neat presentation will be important to your success.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.
